The particular term: gender performativity saw the light of day at the beginning 90s of the 20th century thanks to the American woman Judith Butler. A way of constructing the social-cultural sex by repeating and playing typical behaviour is an essence of this phenomenon. To the head of this concept Butler is slided out comprehending performative acts, i.e. behaviours being characterized by assigning to oneself certain permanent predispositions associated with the sex (so-called sexual roles, stereotypes). According to Butler, giving the cultural sex takes place at the moment of delivering a baby, when it is announced. Into this way, it is symbolically assigned to the part of roles associated with the sex and social expectations. According to this concept, the person isn't born as the woman or the man, but gets it in the context of the cultural sex in the performative way.
Turbo Sex project is an attempt of depicting psychological-social construct occurring over the years... I want to express the fact that recalled postures are fluid and extent determined with institutional categorizations. Behaviours and expectations are fading away, undergoing and in the end washing away. One feature transforms in second, assuming different androgynity shapes.
Using the car as, object / toy which is culturally assigned to the male sex (it is important to pay attention also to a colour of it) I reproduce the cultural construct, and at the same time through the painting process, I am playing with him. To the childhood toy I am granting the status of the tool of the artistic expression. It becomes an indirect artificer of ultimate work, and a participant in the performative gesture.
